Requests to Inspect US Military Planes at Shannon on October 12th Ignored by Gardai
At the peace gathering in Shannon on October 12th the Gardai were asked to search three different US military planes that had landed at the airport.

The first was an Omni Air troop carrier registration N486AX that landed at about 10.55 coming from Sofia Bulgaria and the Persian Gulf area. It took off about 13.09 on its way to the US.
The other two were US Navy Hercules C-130's that came from Chania in Crete.
The first, with registration 16-5314, landed at about 12.50. It had flown through Shannon from the US on 9th Oct.
The second, 16-5159, landed just over an hour later at about 14.02. It had earlier flown from Bahrain.
The Gardai who were asked to inspect the C-130's prevaricaded, told us the planes had permission to be in Shannon, and said they couldn't search them because there was no evidence that they were breaking the law. When pressed, they said they would "investigate".
The same Gardai assured us they would send a written report on their investigation the following day. Five days later we've received nothing.
We're not surprised by their complete unwillingness to do anything about possible complicity in war crimes and genocide. The Gardai at Shannon have almost certainly been told to stay well way from the US military planes. Because if they looked too closely they might find evidence of that complicity.
Earlier in the day, at about 04.16, an Atlas Air flight operating for the US military landed at Shannon coming from Kuwait. It took off about 06.51 and flew on to Pittsburgh PA. The aircraft registration was N662GT.
Even more shockingly, an Omni Air plane with registration N423AX flew from Shannon to a military base in Israel on Oct 2th. It landed at Shannon at about 01.28 coming from Shaw AIr Base in South Carolina with a stop at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. It took off about 03.59, and flew on Athens Greece. From there it flew to Nevatim Israel Defense Forces base just north of the Negev Desert in Israel.
Transport minister Darragh O’Brien would have had to grant permission for this plane to land at Shannon.
It was probably carrying troops - with their weapons - to Israel. There were reports of US troops being moved there to help "monitor the ceasefire" in Gaza and it now looks like some of them may have come through Shannon.
That makes us complicit in Israel's genocidal oppression of Palestine.
