Shannon Airport was Assisting the Genocide in Gaza Today

Body:

Every day, US planes supporting the genocide in Gaza pass through Shannon.

In just one night of brutality, Israel has shattered the ceasefire that was in place in Gaza and has murdered over 400 people, including women and children. Medical facilities are overwhelmed as these airstrikes are compounding a situation that was already desperate. Humanitarian aid is being blocked by Israel, and today UN officials described conditions in Gaza as “hell on earth” following the deadly Israeli air strikes.

The man wanted by the International Criminal Court who's leading the genocide, Benjamin Netanyahu, has said that the wave of deadly airstrikes is “only the beginning”.

This is a genocide that's being done with US weapons, and with full US support. In fact the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Israel had consulted with US President Donald Trump about the strikes.

Its sickening and shocking that the world is not taking action against Israel. There was international condemnation of the strikes, but no sanctions, no commitment to stop supplying weapons, not even a move to review trade links with Israel.

Its even more sickenig to see governments like Ireland's taking the side of the genocidal maniacs while uttering their words of condemnation.

The US military use of Shannon Airport is particularly henious. And it goes on every day.

Yesterday a US Air Force diplomatic aircraft refuelled there coming from so-called peace negotiations in United Arab Emirates.

Also last night a US Navy Hercules C130 landed at Shannon about 22.50pm and was still there this morning (18th March).

Omni Air N351AX troop carrier refuelled at Shannon early this morning coming from Baltimore US and has since flown on to Romania.

Also yesterday Omni Air N486AX (another troop carrier) refuelled at Shannon on coming from Poland and Romania, and then flew on to US

Omni Air N378AX refuelled at Shannon on the night of 16/17 March coming from Kuwait and Qatar, and flew on the US.

All those Omni Air planes were on contract to the US military, making Ireland actively complicit in the today killing of hundreds of Palestinians.

We demand that the Irish government take a number of steps to withdraw its support for the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians. The first is to end the US military use of Shannon.

It also needs to pass the Occupied Territories Bill

And it needs to bring an immediate end to the funding of the genocide through the Central Bank's sale of Israeli bonds. This is funding the genocide.

Once again it's being left to ordinary people and to social movements around the world to force governments into action. We encourage everyone to keep this going - join the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign national demo in Dublin on March 22nd if you can. And tell your politicians to get the US Military Out of Shannon.
